Mu Ko Similan National Park

Where Are The Similan Islands?

The Similan Islands lie in the Andaman Sea, around 70 km off Thailand’s Phang Nga coast, west of Khao Lak and north-west of Phuket. The speedboat crossing from Thap Lamu Pier takes around two hours. The drive from Phuket to the pier takes roughly two and a half hours, depending on where you’re staying on the island.

Brilliant white sand, clear turquoise bays and immense granite boulders make this remote archipelago one of Thailand’s most extraordinary island escapes. Forest meets the beach, while coral reefs and colourful marine life draw snorkellers and divers from around the world.

The islands are protected within Mu Ko Similan National Park and normally welcome visitors from mid-October to mid-May. The monsoon closure gives the marine environment a break, making a visit during the open season something worth planning your holiday around.
