Visit Similan Islands
Cookie policy
This policy explains the cookies, browser storage, scripts and similar technologies used on visitsimilanislands.com and the choices available to you.
Last updated: 13 August 2026
1. Cookies and similar technologies
A cookie is a small piece of information stored by a website in your browser. Similar technologies include local storage, pixels, tags, scripts and embedded content. They may remember a preference, keep a form secure, measure website use or connect a page to another provider.
These rules apply whether or not the information identifies you directly.
2. Your choices
Necessary technologies are used because the website or a service you request cannot work securely without them. Analytics is controlled by the sitewide privacy choice. Advertising storage, advertising user data and advertising personalisation remain disabled. Optional maps and videos use their own load or play control so they do not connect to the external provider until you request the content.
You can allow or reject analytics with equal ease and change your choice later. Rejecting analytics does not stop you reading the site or contacting us. An external map or video remains unavailable until you choose to load or play it.
Review cookie choices
The privacy-choice panel lets visitors select Only necessary or Allow analytics. If you are signed in to WordPress, the public panel is not loaded because administrator analytics are disabled.
3. Technologies used on this site
| Category and provider | Purpose | Typical storage or duration | Choice |
|---|---|---|---|
| Necessary — WordPress, SiteGround and security/session services | Deliver pages, balance traffic, protect the site, remember a requested session and support staff login or administration. | Usually the session or a short security period. Staff login cookies may last longer when “Remember me” is chosen. | Necessary for the requested service; cannot be switched off through the site controls. |
| Necessary/form functionality — WS Form and Elementor forms | Validate, submit and protect enquiry, availability, support and traveller-detail forms. A save-and-continue feature may store or email a secure resume link when you ask for it. | Session data; incomplete save-and-continue records are normally retained for no more than 30 days after last activity. | Used when you request the form service. |
| Appearance and preference — Visit Similan Islands currency display | Remember a manually selected currency, a detected country code and reference exchange rates so prices can be displayed consistently. | vsi-local-currency-country: up to 30 days; vsi-local-currency-rate-*: up to 24 hours; vsi-local-currency-preference: until changed, reset or cleared. | Choose a currency or “Auto-detect” in the site header. You can replace or clear the saved preference at any time. |
| Country and exchange-rate services — IPWhois/ipwho.is and Frankfurter | IPWhois receives the request IP and returns country information for currency selection. Frankfurter returns reference exchange rates. Visit Similan Islands keeps the returned country code, not the lookup IP, in WordPress for this feature. | Country code in the browser up to 30 days; reference rates up to 24 hours. Each provider may retain technical request logs under its own policy. | Select a currency manually to override auto-detection. The feature uses requests without login credentials. |
| Analytics — Google Analytics 4 | Measure visits, pages, device/browser type, approximate location, referral source and form-completion events so we can understand and improve the site. The Analytics property may be linked to Google Ads, but advertising storage, advertising user data and advertising personalisation remain disabled through our site controls. | _ga and _ga_G-ZZZ3LS1MSZ normally expire after up to 2 years unless a shorter setting or browser limit applies. | Optional. Analytics storage is not enabled unless you choose “Allow analytics”. Advertising-related storage and processing remain disabled. |
| External media — Google Maps and YouTube | Display a map, location tool or video. Loading the content can reveal your IP address, device/browser information and page interaction to Google/YouTube and may allow those providers to use cookies or similar technology. | Set by the provider according to the content and your Google/YouTube account or browser state. | Optional. Where controls are shown, the content loads only after you choose to allow external media or open the provider directly. |
| Payments — Stripe or another hosted payment provider | Prevent fraud, keep checkout secure, remember the payment session and complete the payment you request. | Set by the payment provider for security and transaction needs. | Used when you open or use the secure hosted payment service. Necessary payment-security technology is controlled by that provider. |
4. Google Analytics and Google Ads
Google Analytics 4 uses first-party identifiers to distinguish users and sessions and receives website event information. We use reports to understand traffic, customer journeys and successful enquiry-form completions. We do not intentionally send passport, certification, insurance, emergency, payment-card, health or free-text form contents to Analytics.
Because the Analytics property has a Google Ads link, our controls distinguish analytics storage from advertising storage, advertising user data and advertising personalisation. Advertising storage, advertising user data and advertising personalisation remain denied.
5. Browser controls and clearing data
Most browsers allow you to delete cookies and site data, block third-party cookies or prevent all storage. Blocking everything may stop secure forms, currency preferences or other requested features working correctly. Use your browser’s current help menu for instructions.
Clearing site data removes saved currency and privacy choices from that browser, so the site may ask you again on a later visit.
